One of the most common digestive complaints nowadays is constipation. It varies greatly between different people, as each person’s bowel movements differ. Rate of defecation is not in itself a problem, as infrequent defecation without problems is not abnormal. Constipation may be prevented through natural ways like: having enough exercise and adequate rest, increasing the intake of fluids (preferably water) and fibrous foods. Dietary fiber may be achieved by consuming more vegetables and fruits. The use of laxatives is to be discouraged as this may result in bowel action becoming dependent upon their use. As much as possible, every one must be knowledgeable about constipation and for its earlier prevention before he/she suffers from the consequences of this condition.
